NBFL welcomes stand-alone labour department and working with newly appointed Minister LePage

The NBFL welcomes the news that the government is creating a stand-alone labour department and looks forward to working to the newly appointed Minister Gilles LePage, responsible for the Department of Labour, Employment and Population Growth.

“Workers are the backbone of the New Brunswick economy. It’s only logical that we should have our own government department,” says Patrick Colford, President of the New Brunswick Federation of Labour “I look forward to working with the newly appointed Minister Gilles LePage on advancing some of the labour movement’s priorities, including strengthening labour legislation and improving workplace health and safety benefits in the province.”

On labour day, the Premier announced the creation of the Department of Labour, Employment and Population Growth and this week announced who will take over this new portfolio, namely Minister Gilles LePage.
