Dear Sisters, Dear Brothers,

The New Brunswick Federation of Labour (NBFL) must unfortunately cancel the 2021 edition of the Blair Doucet Youth Summer Camp. With the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak, the Moncton campus of l’Université de Moncton is wisely not permitting any activities on campus this summer. The NBFL Executive Council also decided not to host an online version of the camp as people are Zoom fatigued.

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support of the Blair Doucet Youth Summer Camp. The NBFL has organized this annual summer camp for New Brunswick youth at the Moncton campus of l’Université de Moncton for over 20 years. It educates high school-aged students from across the province on labour issues. Students who will become future workers and managers. Each camp participant also receives a $250 dollar scholarship for each year they attend camp, upon proof of high school graduation and acceptance in post-secondary studies.

We look forward to hosting the children of union locals affiliated to the NBFL in future editions of the Blair Doucet Youth Summer Camp. In the mornings, camp participants attend bilingual workshops on labour history, health and safety, sweatshops, collective bargaining, human rights, etc. In the afternoons, the youth partake in field trips to discover the greater Moncton area and participate in leisure activities.

In Solidarity,
