Potential Data Security Incident
We wanted to inform you about a potential data security incident that may have involved some of our members personal information. We recently detected unusual activity on our systems, and our immediate investigation indicates that an unauthorized party may have gained access to some of our data.
While our investigation is ongoing and we are working tirelessly to understand the full scope of this incident, we want to provide you with information on steps you can take immediately to protect yourself.
What You Can Do to Protect Yourself
Here are some important actions we recommend you take right away:
- Change Your Passwords: If you use the same password for your account with us on other websites or services, change those immediately. We recommend creating strong, unique passwords for all your online accounts. A strong password includes a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Where available, enable 2FA on your email, banking, and other important online accounts. This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification, like a code sent to your phone, in addition to your password.
- Monitor Your Accounts: Regularly review your bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts for any suspicious or unauthorized activity. If you spot anything unusual, report it to your financial institution immediately.
- Be Wary of Phishing Attempts: Cybercriminals often try to take advantage of situations like this. Be cautious of unsolicited emails, texts, or phone calls asking for your personal information. We will not ask you for your password or sensitive information via email or phone.
- Consider a Credit Freeze or Fraud Alert: You can place a fraud alert or a credit freeze on your credit file with the major credit bureaus. A fraud alert makes it harder for identity thieves to open new accounts in your name, while a credit freeze restricts access to your credit report entirely, preventing new credit from being opened.
